In my opinion, it's a complex interplay of natural and human-induced factors, each contributing to the severity of the fires and the smoke pollution that has claimed countless lives.
One of the primary causes is the climate crisis. The Iberian peninsula has been experiencing record-breaking heatwaves, with temperatures soaring to nearly 42C. This extreme heat has dried out the landscape, turning vegetation into highly flammable fuel.
