A Civil War Erupts: The View's Conservative Clash
The View's conservative hosts are at war, and it's getting personal.
On Tuesday's episode, a heated exchange between Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Megyn Kelly's commentary on the Iran-U.S. conflict took center stage. The topic? The tragic loss of U.S. troops in a retaliatory strike. Hasselbeck, a guest host and former Fox News colleague of Kelly's, unleashed a scathing critique.
"How dare you, Megyn Kelly?" she exclaimed. "To suggest that our brave military personnel died for anyone but our nation is an insult."
The show aired a clip of Kelly's controversial statement: "My feeling is clear: no one should die for a foreign country." Kelly's words, in response to the initial report of four U.S. military deaths, sparked outrage. She added, "I believe those four service members gave their lives for Iran or Israel, not the United States."
Hasselbeck, visibly enraged, declared her willingness to confront Kelly. "How dare you tell our military, their families, and our nation what these sacrifices mean?" she asked, her gaze fixed on the camera.
Joy Behar, a fellow host, interjected, "Be careful, she's known for her combative nature."
"I'm not afraid," Hasselbeck replied confidently.
She continued, "My heart goes out to our military, and I refuse to let anyone dictate the purpose of their sacrifice."
Hasselbeck, a rotating conservative host filling in for Alyssa Farah Griffin, has a history with The View. She was previously fired for being "too conservative" for the show's audience.
But here's where it gets controversial: Hasselbeck and Kelly's paths crossed at Fox News, where they maintained a seemingly amicable relationship. Kelly hosted The Kelly File during Hasselbeck's time at Fox & Friends.
And this is the part most people miss: Hasselbeck has a history of contentious relationships with former View hosts. She's sparred with Rosie O'Donnell online and recently slammed Joy Behar for criticizing Carrie Underwood's performance at Trump's inauguration.
Despite her initial expressions of "love" for the co-hosts, Hasselbeck's conservative views have led to clashes. When discussing the Epstein files and allegations against Donald Trump, she disagreed with Behar's take on the Clintons' depositions.
"I think this backfires on Trump," Behar stated.
"I respectfully disagree," Hasselbeck replied.
Sunny Hostin then asked, "Would you like to hear President Trump testify?"
Hasselbeck's response: "I'd welcome testimony from anyone with relevant information."
The View's conservative hosts are divided, and their clashes are making headlines. Will this civil war escalate, or can they find common ground? What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments!
